How Do You Play Croquet
in the Dark
- Surprisingly, Croquet can be enjoyed under conditions of low
illumination. Night Croquet presents two problems, seeing the balls....and
seeing the wickets; of these two, visibility of the wickets is
by far the more difficult (especially with thin wire wickets). The Wonder
Wicket Light very adequately solves the visibility problem for all types
of wickets; this then leaves only the problem of ball visibility.
Any ball in the vicinity of a Wonder Wicket Light will be adequately illuminated. To effectively see balls remote from the wickets, it turns out all that is needed is a little ambient lighting that most yard settings will generally provide, especially when some low level artificial lighting sources such as yard torches, lanterns, decorative colored light-strings and garden-shrubbery lighting are used.
Some like to paint markings on the balls using Craft paints that are Fluorescent; this accentuates and heightens reflection from low ambient area lighting. By using various combinations of stripes, dots, and other patterns, the darker balls can be easily distinguished from one another.

- Wonder Wicket lights use a super bright impact resistant LED bulb with
100,000 hour lifetime (that’s about 20,000 night croquet games, or
one game a week for 384 years!).

2. What kind of Batteries
are required? How long will they last?
- Wonder Wicket Lights use AA batteries. Alkaline batteries, in
conjunction with our highly energy efficient LED light source,
provide about 200 hours of playing time, or about 40
evenings of Night Croquet!

3. Will the light interfere
with my night vision?
- Wonder Wicket Lights illuminate with a red light that is not only decorative,
but also helps maintain night vision

4. Will they fit my wickets?
- The Yard Model is designed to fit all styles of backyard croquet wickets
(round, square, or trapezoid shaped). The Association Style model will
fit between the verticals of an Association wicket that are up to 3/4
inch in diameter, and with an inside clearance as narrow as 3-5/8 inches.

5. How tough are they? Will
they break?
- The Wonder Wicket Light successfully withstands all the normal as well
as rowdiest conditions of the game (possibly with the exception of a vicious
direct mallet strike from a frenzied extreme croquet player). They have
undergone extensive testing, and while we have broken balls and lawn statuary
in that process, we have yet to put a Wonder Wicket Light out of commission.
Here is what the Connecticut eXtreme Croquet Society had to say about
our Wonder Wicket Lights:
"......we tested the wicket light yesterday (Sunday April 6th). The results: The Wicket Light underwent the ultimate test: It was hanging from one of the regular size wickets and took a hard wedge shot right to the throat. It exploded into pieces like a starburst shell (we never even found the batteries which disappeared into piles of leaves). We put new batteries in and put it back together. IT WORKED PERFECTLY!!! It passes the CeCS test with flying colors !!!"

6. How many come in a set?
There are four Wonder Wicket Light ordering options:
1. Sixer Set: Comes with 6 Wonder Wicket Lights, for those who play 6 wicket Croquet.
2. Basic Set: Comes with 9 Wonder Wicket Lights. for those who play 9 wicket Croquet.
3. Deluxe set: Comes with 11 Wonder Wicket Lights, providing extra lights for the Posts (or other lighting uses).

7. What else can I use them for?
- Strap onto low hanging branches to prevent guests from running into
them
- Lay along a dark path to mark the way, illuminate step locations, etc.
- Mark edges of driveways or parking boundaries, etc.
- Affix to clothing to indicate teams
- Position around the yard as decorative party lights
- Strap on to the turning and winning Posts to illuminate them.

8. Are they weather resistant?
Wonder Wicket Lights have been tested and show no reduced function when
wet. However, we do not recommend extended use in water (as in SCUBA croquet
games) or excessive use in the rain because acid rain or dissolved elements
in the water may lead to eventual corrosion of the electronics.
